In preparation for the 2005 World Summit (Millennium+5) in September 2005, the United Nations has issued a report details the progress towards the eight Millennium Development Goals, and how large an effort is needed to achieve them. The report represents the most comprehensive accounting to date on how far the world has come toward achieving these goals. While some countries are on track to achieving the goals, Sub-Saharan Africa lags far behind and will require unprecedented effort and action.
